Jim Foster, Chairman and CEO

"I stand shoulder to shoulder with this team of leaders to ensure diversity, equity, and inclusion isn’t a program at Charles River, it is how we work and interact to be the difference every day. It is our way of being that is essential to bringing about the changes that we need."

Driving Meaningful Impact

As a global organization of 100 nationalities, five generations, and varying expertise across 20 countries, we thrive when we learn from one another, embrace different viewpoints, and build mutual respect.

We focus on bringing people together across businesses, countries, and differences. By nurturing open dialogue, understanding, and empathy, we create the foundation for meaningful connections, collaboration, and stronger team performance.

We intentionally design fair approaches and processes that create access to opportunities, resources, and career growth for all. Everyday actions that make every colleague feel seen, respected, and valued build a sense of belonging. When we create an environment where all voices are heard, and all contributions are valued, we unleash the potential for more significant innovation, engagement, and business success.

As a responsible business, we take this same commitment beyond our walls—engaging with and investing in our communities to create a positive and lasting impact. By forging meaningful connections, we strengthen our organization and help shape the future of our industry and the world around us.

At Charles River, we are thousands of difference makers across the globe, united by one purpose:

Together We Create Healthier Lives.

Achieving this purpose requires various perspectives and experiences to advance scientific breakthroughs and a workplace that brings out the best in all of us. When we succeed at this, our innovation flourishes, enabling us to deliver the highest-quality, equitable outcomes to our colleagues, communities, clients, and the animals and patients we work to help each day.

Victoria Creamer, Chief People Officer

"In this role, I have the privilege to focus on people and ensure each person can "be the difference" and bring to life our vision of helping others. We are a team of 21,000 and growing each day with the addition of new and diverse talent through hiring and mergers and acquisitions (M&A)."

Personal Pronouns

As an organisation, we understand the importance of personal pronouns and encourage all employees, regardless of their gender identity, to share their personal pronouns in introductions, on name tags, in email signatures, and in meetings. These actions help make our workplace more inclusive and fosters a sense of belonging. Using personal pronouns is an integral step toward respecting people’s gender identity and creating a welcoming space for people of all genders.

Employee Resource Groups (ERGs)

At Charles River, fostering a culture of belonging is at the core of who we are. We celebrate our differences and cultivate a workplace where every employee feels valued, respected, and empowered. Our company-supported Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) are open to all and play a vital role in building connections, enhancing engagement, and strengthening our community.
